Sofitel London St James

Sofitel London St James offers five-star accommodation in the heart of London's West End. This landmark hotel - consistently rated as one of the best in London - combines traditional British design with contemporary style that is unmistakably French. We were tasked with the refurbishment of all the hotels 183 bedrooms and corridors and associated circulatory areas to mark a new era for the five star hotel with an innovative redesign from renowned French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. His update to his original 2002 design is inspired by the creative, dynamic feel of society and culture of 1960’s London by blending bold British design with contemporary French elegance This included a full bedroom and corridor refurbishment, with a complete electrical and data replacement along with a comprehensive bathroom refurbishment to a percentage of the rooms. We also replaced all the metal windows with new and a total refurbishment of the existing timber sash and casement windows. The existing fan coil units were replaced.

The work was carried out under the most challenging logistical circumstances. The hotel is landlocked to the rear and surrounded by red bus routes with no permits available to allow for kerbside deliveries or waste collections at the hotel’s small goods entrance. Space at the hotel was at a severe premium and scaffolding was not permitted as an access option, so all storage was managed within the tight constraints of the building and the windows replaced from the inside, with abseil access externally.

The works were phased over the 6 floors of the hotel ensuring business as usual whilst the work was completed.
