Hard Rock Hotel London

Hard Rock Hotel London

We were successfully appointed to initially deliver 900 new guestrooms, which was increased to 1000 during the project at the Hard Rock Hotel in London, marking the first UK property for this iconic brand.

The Hard Rock Cafe was founded in London in 1971 and the new London hotel is on the corner of Oxford Street and Park Lane near Marble Arch and was formerly the renowned Cumberland Hotel.

Dale Hipsh, Senior Vice President of Hard Rock Hotels says "Every Hard Rock Hotel property is one-of-a-kind, but this one represents something special for the brand. This hotel is the culmination of three concepts – the cafes, hotels and Rock Shops® – coming together as one in an open-lobby, community-driven environment with Hard Rock's memorabilia as the design thread binding them together.”

Memorabilia on display includes a Kirkwood piano practiced on by a teenage Freddie Mercury, and a letter written by Buddy Holly on a previous stay at the property, and guests will be given complimentary use of a Crosley turntable and can rent a Fender guitar with headphones. Top-end Rock Royalty rooms and suites will provide a personal concierge and access to the private lounge.

This 18 month project incorporated specific site logistical constraints and our flexible approach again became paramount to delivery of another successful project- All 8 floors had only one access/egress point that being a set of double doors at pavement level which provided a challenge in itself.

Following extensive asbestos removal, bedroom building works included: Strip Out / Structural Alterations / General Repairs and Making Good, New Vingcard locks, Joinery, Decoration, Rewire to Power and Lighting, TV / Data / Telephones, Carpet supply and Installation, FF&E Items inc Case Goods, OSE and Signage. Bathroom works included: Strip Out / General make Good Walls / Plaster ready for new tiling, decoration, plumbing, re wire, supply and fit new sanitary ware, vanity, mirror, lighting etc.

"Unwin Jones Partnership have been working with County Contractors for over 11 years on hotel refurbishment projects including the Grosvenor Victoria and the recently completed Amba Hotel Marble Arch.

These projects have involved in excess of 2500 bedroom refurbishments and complex public area re-configurations in operational hotels. During that time County have delivered every phase on time and on budget.

County are always a pleasure to work with – they have a proactive, non-contractual, can-do attitude. They look for solutions rather than problems and excel in the pressured situations that inevitably occur when working in live hotel environments.

One of their biggest strengths is their communication and coordination with the hotel management during the works. They have an excellent understanding of the operational needs of a hotel and always remain flexible and responsive.

We would not hesitate in recommending them to any hotel client."
